Chicago’s 12th annual Restaurant Week is coming up on January 25th. For two weeks, nearly 400 local eateries will be offering discounts and other great deals. Fixed price (prix fixe) lunches and dinners start at $24 and include an entire three-course meal featuring an appetizer, main course, and dessert. Here’s a look at three of the unique restaurants participating this year.
676 Restaurant & Bar
This contemporary American restaurant features two prix fixe meals. For lunch, start with a creamy tomato soup or a Caesar salad followed by a choice between the classic 676 burger or a grilled salmon salad. End your meal with a gooey butter cake with ice cream and caramel drizzle. Those that attend at dinner will have the options of deviled eggs, potato gnocchi, and roasted chicken. Don’t forget to ask about Restaurant Week wine specials during your visit.
Indian bistro Mango Pickle will offer a $36 prix fixe dinner. Four options are presented for your first course, including a gluten-free keema kabab featuring lamb and red onion and a vegetarian bhel puri with butternut squash and chickpeas. Then choose from four main dishes, such as the pork shoulder vindaloo braised in tamarind, chili, and red wine. Satisfy your sweet tooth with a baked chocolate ganache.
Tallboy Taco has developed lunch and dinner for two meals at this year’s event. A lunch special is $24. It features chips, salsa, and guacamole to share, along with your choice of four tacos, including beer-battered crispy fish and steak and egg. The dinner special adds a kale Caesar salad to your appetizer and two extra tacos to your main course. And it also comes with a dessert of two churros and dulce de leche.
