Are you looking to brighten your home with a colorful work of art? If so, head to the Mars Gallery. Housed in a 19th-century timber loft, it features an array of artists from Chicago and beyond who work in a variety of media. Mars has been recognized by several publications such as Dream Vacation Magazine and the Chicago Tribune. It’s a known, must-see Chicago gallery! Artists with modern art at the Mars Gallery include:
Karen Parisian graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago, and she exhibits her work both nationally and internationally. Her work falls under Spiritual Modernism. She finds inspiration in the modern masters and her own symbols that represent the universe. Karen’s paintings are full of layers and textures. And her bold, expressive lines reflect the complexity of life.
Next, born and raised in Oak Park, Michael Hedges studied at the Art Institute of Chicago before earning a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from Iowa’s Loras College. Since graduation, Michael has sold his work throughout Chicagoland, and some of his paintings hang in area corporations. He often works on 10 pieces at a time. He says his work is a synthesis of color, line, form, and texture.
And finally, after growing up in a small north-central Ohio town, Eric Skaggs moved to Chicago in 1994. He created the cartoon series Exit 244 which ran in the Cleveland Plain Dealer from 1993 to 1997. And today, his work explores the relationship between the human form and the outside world. Eric’s palette transformed from dark to very colorful, and his work is all over the city.
