“The show must go on,” as every theater-lover knows. Chicago’s vibrant theater scene is still going strong with plenty of ways you can enjoy the delights of the theater from home. If you’re longing for a night at the theater, tune in to a virtual production from these local theaters while staying cozy in our Chicago apartments.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater

“All the world’s a stage,” as Shakespeare famously wrote. If you’d like a dose of the bard, check out Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s SHAKES@HOME digital platform. It features tons of ways for you to virtually explore Shakespeare’s work. You can watch performances by your favorite actors and take a look behind the scenes. You can even dive into Shakespeare-themed crafts and cooking tutorials.

16th Street Theater

16th Street Theater has found some truly creative ways to put on plays that you can enjoy from home. For instance, tune into a virtual showing of Divercity. This is a production featuring solo performances by artists, writers, and actors with disabilities. Plus, 16th Street Theater has teamed up with other theaters across the country to create Play at Home. This project commissions short, 10-minute plays from playwrights and makes them available for free online. You watch videos of these plays being performed. Also, you can easily download the scripts and put on a performance yourself!

Albany Park Theater Project

Albany Park Theater Project  brings together a “community of youth artists, adult artists, and audiences to envision and build a more just, equitable, and joyful world.” They have a variety of stunning performances available for free on their Vimeo page that can be easily streamed from your living room.

Of course, there’s nothing like dinner and a show. Whip up a delicious dish with help from a local cooking class as you watch Chicago theater from home. Our apartments in Chicago have everything you need to feel at home. Contact us today to learn more about how you can join our community.
