When most people think about the history of the United States they think about great presidents like George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, or perhaps civil rights leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. However, there’s another population in the city of Chicago that often doesn’t get as much attention as it should: the Polish community. This year, take the time to learn about Polish history in the United States by visiting the Polish Museum of America.
- Visit the library at the museum. You can do research for school or just sit down and learn more about Polish history in the United States. The museum also offers books and materials you can purchase to take home and learn more on your own.
- Take a tour of the museum with a group of friends, fellow students or your child’s friends from school. You can organize tours throughout the week by contacting the museum.
- Make sure you check out the temporary exhibits of Polish history in the United States and Polish art while you’re at the museum. They’re only there for a limited time, so make sure you see them while you can.
