Celebrate the Season at These Winter Activities in Chicago

The temperature may have dropped, but there are plenty of ways for Chicago residents to have fun this winter. Here are three fun winter activities in Chicago for Mondial River West residents to enjoy this December!

Go Ice Skating at Millennium Park

Nothing says winter like gliding across smooth ice. Millennium Park is home to one of the most popular ice rinks in the city, which is typically open between November and March. The rink is open every afternoon and evening, as well as weekend mornings. Admission to the rink is free. Skate rentals, lessons, lockers, and skate sharpening are also available.

Ride the Polar Express

Add a bit of holiday magic to your December by taking a trip on Amtrak’s Polar Express. This spectacular holiday train is filled with lights, decorations, and hot chocolate to create a simulated trip to the North Pole. Two to six trains depart from Union Station each day throughout late November and December.

The CTA also offers a special holiday train and bus each December. On these rides, the cars are covered in lights and other decorations are rotated between routes throughout the season.

Go Shopping at a Holiday Market

If you’re searching for a special gift, a unique treat, or a fun cultural experience, check out Chicago’s holiday-themed markets. From the One of a Kind Holiday Show to the Holiday Lights Gift and Craft Fair, there’s a lot to see. You’re sure to enjoy spending an afternoon strolling among crafts, food, and other holiday gifts from a variety of cultures.
